Measles cases have been reported among young people locally and the number of cases in England and Wales is rising.

Adequate protection against measles can only be achieved by 2 doses of the MMR (measles,mumps,rubella) vaccine.

Many young people have had no immunisation against measles at all, or have had only one dose of the MMR vaccine.

If

• You are aged 17 to 25 yrs old, and
• You have never had the MMR vaccine, or
• You have had only one MMR vaccination

Then you are strongly encouraged to have the MMR vaccination against measles as soon as possible. It is given for free at this surgery

If you are unsure about your vaccination history the please ask any receptionist, or the nurse or GP that you are seeing, to check your records for you.
